Blackpool Hotels
Synonymous with British seaside tourism, Blackpool is located in the north-west of England, 40 miles from Manchester and less than 30 miles from Liverpool. Looking out over the Irish Sea, it receives 6 million visitors every year, making it the UK’s number one holiday resort. In the summer, visitors flock to attractions such as the Pleasure Beach Blackpool (featuring Britain’s tallest rollercoaster ride), Blackpool Tower and The Piers. But the town has also astutely extended its tourist season into the autumn with the Blackpool Illuminations.
In addition to its most famous attractions, Blackpool boasts numerous amusement arcades and a vibrant nightlife. The Winter Gardens entertainment complex contains twelve different venues, including a theatre, ballroom and conference facilities. It was opened in 1878 and is a Grade II-listed building, incorporating elements built variously between 1875 and 1939. It has played host to major political and trade union conferences and its owners claim that every British Prime Minister since World War II has addressed an audience there.
